Helpful hints

Consume less than one drink per hour. Your liver breaks down alcohol at the rate of about a beer an hour, so spreading out the drinking over the course of an evening will lessen the likelihood of a hangover. (From So You Wanna – the avoid a hangover section.)

I thought it was one unit per hour. Is American beer really that weak?

To calculate the number of units in a specific drink, use this equation:

% ABV x volume (ml)/1000

  1. If an average glass of wine is 12% and 125ml, then by golly, you might as well drink water instead of American beer. Well, almost.
If both rules are true, the beer would be 1 point, the wine 1.5. H***, who drinks beer anyway? Give us cider, wine, whiskey, champagne, whatever, just no beer. Ugh, the foam makes me nautious, just from looking at it. (Guinness, obviously, is not a beer)
