Catch 21

Oh, shame on me, I haven't actually read The Wind in the Willows, not as Grahame wrote it, anyway. I did have a collection of fairy tales and other stories, and I strongly remember reading about the adventures of a rat, a mole, and a toad, so that must have been an adaptation. I have seen the BBC screen adaptation, and that's lovely.

Some of the original entries refer in my heart to the entire series or even the entire works of the author. Or it might refer to another book by the same author. Making my personal list - please don't ask the order (might edit that later)

1. The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkien
2. Jane Austen
4. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams
4. Dirk Gently (all 3 books), Douglas Adams
5. Harry Potter, JK Rowling
7. Winnie-the-Pooh (and HaPC), AA Milne - might refer to other/all of his work, if only I'd read it
8. Animal Farm (the cartoon version, sorry), George Orwell
9. The Chronicles of Narnia, CS Lewis
10. Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontė
12. Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontė
16. The Wind in the Willows (BBC version, at least), Kenneth Grahame
17. David Copperfield, Charles Dickens
20. Anna Karenina (only book of his I read), Leo Tolstoy

Books/authors missing from the BBC's list, which are definitely on my own list:
Chaim Potok
John Irving
Nick Hornby
Amber (series of books), Roger Zelazny

There's more, but I can't think of the names right now.
