In the mail
They're in the mail, finally. The invites, that is. I'll scan one for your pleasure later.
Funny thing: I realised too late (too late, that is, to bother printing them again) that I'd failed to translate the bit about expected attire on the English language ones, so they all say "Antrekk: Mørk dress/bunad" just like the ones in Norwegian do. Sorry, you guys. Talk to me if you need an explanation. I think the rest is in English. It might not be. Let me know. This whole thing really had a million unexpected possibilities for f**k-ups. Never mind, if that's the only one, I'll be perfectly delirious.

Save the Date
They're mostly sent, some have even been acknowledged, so they must be getting there. Three more to post today (snafus in printing) and three more addresses to get hold of, and then they'll be all done. Puh. Oh, and a couple to hand out - yes, I'm a cheapskate and can't be bothered to pay for postage on all of them.
I scanned one for your pleasure:
The backing paper is handmade by yours truly, then the text has been printed on vellum and it's all held together with a "paper cord" (and my, were those difficult to get hold of...). Those guests that have no connection with the area get a bit more info on the back as well as a map/tourist information folder enclosed in a "pocket" made from a second sheet of handmade paper (you can see the folder peeking up behind).

Cripes
I just noticed the ticker says 4 months 4 weeks until wedding...
Yikes.
Anyway, the save-the-dates are all but done - not everyone gets a card, some will just get an e-mail with a pointer to this site, but I've had fun assembling the ones I did make. Pictures to be posted once I've scanned some, which might take a while (but I suppose I'd better scan one before I send them all off... Oh, I just remembered, I made a duplicate by mistake - I might just keep that "complete" for the scrapbook).
So, on track, but getting vaguely worried about time flying.

Save the date
I assembled a test-save-the-date this evening, and it looks pretty good, even if I do say so myself. The aim is to get Martin's approval (input on the wording, especially) this weekend, and then to get them all done and mailed next week. It's just a matter of deciding who to send them to, really - all "out of town" guests, obviously, but that mainly comprises my side (though few on his side live at Ulvøya, most of them have houses out there, and so the planning won't be as involved for them as it will for those seeing the place for the first time). Still, it seems sort of rude to "ignore" his whole family, doesn't it?
I also started cutting out the pattern for the dress. Well, it's not much, but it's a start.

Wording
I like this wording:
Antrekk for dagen er mørk dress og brede smil. De damene som heller vil stille i kjole, er selvfølgelig veldig velkomne til det, og husk for all del smilene!
(smiling, Kvinneguiden)

London
So, I think I have all the fabric I need for the dress now. Soho Silks certainly yielded some lovely devoree velvet, now all I need to do is figure out exactly how to incorporate it in the design... Oh, and I need to find a way to colour my lining fabric, as it's all white cotton and it needs to be ivory in case some of it shows... Easy-peasy, I'm sure... Uh-oh. Well, I'll figure it out.
In other news, our guest list is getting close to completion, I think. I had a sudden flash of "oh, dear, we've forgotten..." the other week, but I think we've remembered practically everyone now. Good thing too, as I need to start planning for the Christmas card cum Save the Dates. I'm kind of planning on making my own paper, I just need to find the time (not to mention dig out the book press from the basement to squeeze the water out). And I need to find a webshop that sells paper cord, or find an alternative. Don't worry, I've got it all in hand. I think.
