To a large extent, I agree with Logan Pearsall Smith
("People say that life is the thing. I prefer reading.")
Despite this, I do have some friends that are not imaginary (at least, I do not think they are...)

Some of them happen to live on the other side of the planet
(or near enough to make no odds),
and so their physical presence in my life is neglible.
That does not make them any less important.
And since I've met most of those through the medium of the web,
they could be said to have more of a presence in this virtual library
than some of those that frequent my actual library.
They all have a place on this page, however,
and since I know you're dying to meet them
(or at least, ought to be)
without furhter ado
(except to say I'm sure I've left some people out who deserve to be here)
ta-da :

Linda is another one of these people who obviously live in completely the wrong town, in her case it's Trondheim (for the time being, at least). Linda and I are going to get married when we grow up. Unfortunately (or was that fortunately?) neither of us is likely to ever grow up.
We have a very bad influence on each other, so naturally we just love each other's company.

Tone lives in Lillehammer, and is therefore a little closer, though not close enough. It's a bit too far to pop over for a cup of tea and a bit of Trivial Pursuit.
The world is waiting with bathed breath (or should be) for Tone to get a grip and unleash her directorial genius on Hollywood or, at the very least, Norsk Film. In the meantime, she throws some splendid parties.

Norway might be a small country, but still, it is a relief to find that at least one of the friends meriting mention on this page actually lives in Oslo... Linda has recently completed her studies to become a graphic designer, something which her homepage reflects.

Andreas has recently left Oxford, where he wrote incomparably clever things (no doubt) about linguistic matters. He is now in Edinburgh, studying theology. Apart from being, as indicated, incomparably clever about lingustic matters (and several other things, which would make me feel quite inferior if it wasn't for the fact that there's obviously no point in comparing oneself to certifiable geniuses), he is also the perfect companion for such things as trips to Hay-on-Wye. Furthermore, he has the virtue of being one of the exceedingly few men I know who has ever dared to admit to finding any pleasure in Jane Austen, and his website is a shining example of delicious simplicity.

Getting farther afield, Donna is one of the more prolific bloggers I know. She is highly amusing, too, even when she is depressed (is that a good thing, though, I wonder?). She is also quite as delightful in the flesh as her websites (a webgodess could not be satisfied with just one) suggests. I can't help feeling there is something greatly amiss with the way geography works in keeping BC and Norway so far apart.

Nicolette is a bit closer, but too far away for comfort. On the other hand, she is an excellent creature for helping me while away long hours at work with (non)sensical e-mails. You can see my pictures from her wedding at Photoisland if you can persuade me to give you the password (on account of this being an occasionally ugly old world I'm not about to print the details here...)

And now we come to Roger, affectionately known as CR. He writes some pretty good poetry and is the father of my other honourary nephew (actually, the honour is all mine, but I "my other nephew that I am the honourary aunt of" was too complicated a construction for me to deal with right now).
